Privacy

Updated 30 October 2026.

FoxSumKids (foxsumkids.com) is free math practice for grades 1–9. This page explains what data we keep, why, and how to delete it.

Without an account. No sign-up is needed. Progress, coins, name and settings are stored only in this browser (localStorage) and are not sent anywhere. If a child taps “Get a code” in the profile, the site only fetches a random code for the parent from the server; no data about the child is sent. If a child shows the QR code for moving progress in the profile, a copy of the save (progress, coins, the name typed in the game and settings) waits on our server under a random code for 15 minutes and is erased as soon as another device takes it, or when the 15 minutes are up. The “On two phones” game goes through our server: it passes on only the moves and emoji from a fixed set (no names, no text) and remembers a random number of each phone, so a phone that loses the connection gets its seat back. The game is erased from the server 2 hours after the last move. A “Challenge a friend” link holds only the topic, the number of the task set, the hero picture and the result (no name); the child sends it themselves, and it is not stored on our server. Clearing browser data deletes the progress.

Weather for the hero and the pet (optional). If a child or a parent chooses a city, once a day the site asks our server for the forecast there: only the city's coordinates are sent, rounded to about 10 km. Our server gets the weather from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) without telling it anything about the child, and stores nothing. The city is kept in the game's save. The city search in the parent area goes through our server to OpenStreetMap. Without a city the weather is typical of the season and nothing is sent.

Parent account (optional). Only an adult can create one, in the parent area, by signing in with Google. Children do not create such accounts. From Google we receive the account ID, name and e-mail. We never see the password. The PIN for the parent area is stored only as a one-way hash.

Child's account (optional). To play on several devices with the same progress, a child may make an account in Profile with a nickname and a password, without an e-mail, phone number or name. We store the nickname only as a one-way hash with a secret key, so we cannot read it, even if it contains a name. The password is stored as a one-way hash too. The server holds the game progress without the name from Profile (that stays on the device). Such an account is not on the leaderboard and is linked to no one. Registrations and wrong passwords are counted by a hash of the IP address and forgotten after an hour, so that passwords cannot be guessed.

Class mode (optional). A teacher, signed in with Google, makes a class and gives it tasks. A pupil joins with the class code, without an account, and types nothing about themselves: the pupil picks an animal with a number, and the device gets a random key for that seat. The server keeps the class name, the tasks, the seat numbers and the answers to the teacher's tasks (the task, the answer, right or wrong, the time). The teacher may write a pupil's name beside a seat: it is kept in the teacher's account, seen only by the teacher on the teacher's devices and never shown to the children. Only that teacher sees the answers too. Tasks and their answers are deleted after 90 days, a class with its names after a year unused, or at once when the teacher deletes it. The teacher can free a seat, which deletes its name and answers.

Children's data. Only if a parent adds a child to their account, we keep the name or nickname entered in the game and the game progress: grade, answers per topic, coins, shop purchases, records and the parent's settings. We do not collect surnames, addresses, photos, location or contacts.

Leaderboard. Children added to a parent account appear on the public leaderboard. It shows only a random nickname (such as “Ginger Fox 42”), the number of correct answers this week and game records, never a name. A parent can hide a child from it in the account at any time. Children without a parent account are not on it.

Why. Only to show the progress to the parent, move it between the child's devices, apply the parent's settings and keep the leaderboard. We do not sell or share the data and do not use it for ads. The basis is the parent's consent, given by adding the child. It can be withdrawn at any time by removing the child or deleting the account. A child's account keeps the progress at the request of whoever made it and can be deleted at any time.

Where. On the Cloudflare servers that run the site (Cloudflare D1 database). Sign-in is provided by Google under its own privacy policy; its scripts load only on the parent sign-in page.

Cookies. The site itself sets only technical cookies: the parent's sign-in (30 days) and the link of a child's device (up to 400 days, renewed while playing). We use no analytics. For ads, see below.

How long. As long as the account exists. Removing a child or deleting the account in the parent area erases the data on the server at once and for good; progress on the devices stays. Link codes work for 24 hours. A child's account is kept until it is deleted in Profile (with the password), and deletes itself after a year without play. If a parent adds the child to their account, the child's account moves into the parent's.

Your rights. In the account a parent sees all the data we keep about the child and can remove the child or delete the whole account. For questions about access, correction or deletion, write to us. You can also contact the data protection authority in your country.

Ads. This site may show Google AdSense ads. The site is tagged as child-directed, so personalised ads and remarketing are turned off. Ads appear only on the pages with articles about the topics (such as foxsumkids.com/en/mult/), never in the game itself: not during practice or games, not in menus and not in the parent area.
